Disney: finding Dory, awaiting the Jungle Book, glancing TV upfronts and Frozen 2

Update on April 13: today, at 11.30, Disney’s ‘the Jungle Book’ inaugurates the very special Cinema installed at the “Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli” hospital, in Rome; it is the “Medicinema” project, which allows patients to see a movie at the hospital even if in bed or in a wheelchair.
2016 is a very important year for Disney films. ‘Finding Nemo’ sequel, ‘Finding Dory’, is scheduled for being released in U.S. on June 17. (It is a Friday 17. Please take me as a lucky charm). ‘Finding Dory’ will be based on that pretty fish who helped Nemo’s father in finding his little one, sure to be able, e.g., to imitate the arcane language of the whales; as everyone remembers, she suffers of amnesia and is not able to remember things for enough time. This must be the reason for she will get in troubles… An “Octopus/Sectopus” a part…

The film, a Disney – Pixar co-production, produced by the Oscar-awarded John Lasseter and directed by the Oscar-awarded Andrew Stanton, will be dealing with ecology, as well as it happens in many Disney’s movies.
As for TV, traditional upfronts partially took place, for cable channels at least. Freeform, a Disney/ABC television, revealed
the summer programmation for the most important series (‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘Young and Hungry’) and also revealed the arrival of the first Marvel TV series (‘Cloak and Dagger’, based on a couple of super-powered teenager friends, ), the development of a spinoff comedy from ‘Young and Hungry’ based on a girl who manages a lesbian magazine, the remake of the English and BAFTA -awarded TV series ‘Misfits’, the realization of a Tv Movie based on ‘Greek’, and ‘Shadowunters’ second season, foreseen to have 20 episodes.

Marvel’s ‘Cloak and Dagger’ will be in addition to ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D., ‘Agent Carter’, Netflix series ‘Daredevil’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Iron Fist’, and the project ‘The Defenders’. After watching the pilot, Freeform officially ordered TV series ‘Famous in Love’, based on a female student choosen as the star of a Hollywood blockbuster; in the cast, Bella Thorne, Carter Jenkins, Jesse Henderson, Keith Powers, Niki Koss, Georgie Flores, Perrey Reeves, Pepi Sonuga and Mark Valley.
Other projects, whose pilots are yet to be presented:
‘Alone Together’, two people coming from different worlds, looking for their happiness in Los Angeles;
‘Hunted’, a woman escaped from the jail for demonstrating to be not guilty for her husbands’ murder;
‘Issue’, a Universal Television production, based on Cosmopolitan journalists life and feelings;
‘Lore’, a McG sci-fi drama, written by Thor’s screenplay writer Zack Stentz, focused on the unique survived being of an ancient super-powered race, abducted and forced to collaborate with the Government;
‘Made in LA’, a Josh Schwartz -Stephanie Savage- Mila Kunis production, a comedy set in the world of fashion and fashion management;
‘New People’, a Lionsgate production, inspired to the book ‘Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family’, which tells of two identical twins, going to grow up one as a boy, the other as a trans;
‘Nine Year Under’, a boy graduated in law, who comes to work in a funeral services agency rather to try to become a lawyer;
‘Paige One’, a single camera comedy on a kids books writer who hates children, till the moment her brother comes into her life with his family and daughters;
‘Rising’, a Selena Gomez – Aaron Kaplan production, a southamerican girl destined to achieve great things; ‘The Deep’, a drama set in Bristol and related to the mermaids, and particularly one.

On June the 1st, ‘Young and Hungry’ and ‘Baby Daddy’ new episodes will be broadcasted;
on June the 13, it is scheduled the arrival of ‘Guilt’, the new TV series partly inspired to the story of Amanda Knox but based on the story of an American girl living in London, accused of murdering her roommate;
on 20 June the new season of ‘The Fosters’;
on June 28, ‘Dead of Summer’, the horror series created by the ‘Once Upon a Time’ authors, Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis, Ian Goldberg, with Elizabeth Mitchell; in 2017, it will be broadcasted ‘Beyond’, a drama centered on a 12 years boy who wakes up from the coma and comes into a dangerous conspiracy.
Last but not least, two of the most important animated films of this year. ‘The Jungle Book’, going to be released in Europe and North America, found some problems in India; local authorities, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) wanted the film be seen by less than 12 years old kids only if they are accompanied by their parents. According to those people, ‘The Jungle Book’ is a ‘U-A’ film, it makes fear and the “3d and sound effects are too frightening” for kids, because wild animals seem to get out from the screen. As easy to imagine, such decision has been welcomed with irony by Indian press and social networks.
‘Frozen 2′ will be not released before 2019; the producer Clark Spencer told the journalists that the work is still at the preliminary stage, and neither it is clear what direction is to be followed (an Elsa’s love affair? something else?).
However, by the end of 2016, we will see ‘Oceania’ and ‘Gigantic’.
