the sea-god who laughs

Guillermo del Toro’s ‘the Shape of water’, recently watched in an Italian theatre, brought me to do a comparison with the Victor Hugo’s novel ‘the Man who laughs’, often quoted in this blog (and in many works of art as well).
In both the masterpieces, two “different” people meet each other by case and, spite of an apparently impossible to solve initial situation, manage to keep on their love, eventually finding the place of their definitive happiness.
PS: and please note Guillermo del Toro is not a relative of Benicio del Toro.
