Sony Entertainment has decided to allow the distribution of ‘The Interview‘, the film at the middle of the (pseudo?)diplomatic issue between North Korea, South Korea and digital pirates beautifully called “Guardians of Peace”. According to the latest news, the film will be screened in the US today, Christmas, at least at the Northwest Washington West End Cinema, and will remain so twice a day, at least until the New Year. The same will happen in Texas, regarding the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema theater chain, but also in the theatres of Loudoun county and Baltimore Eastpoint.
Michael Lynton, CEO of Sony Entertainment, said:
“We never gave up with the release of ‘The Interview’ and we are glad that the film will be in some theatres (…) at the same time we continue our efforts to ensure more platforms and more salt, so that the film reaches the largest audience possible. “
There is also the online distribution, on a autonomous site, on Microsoft Xbox video but also on the Google Play Store and YouTube, rental for $ 5 and 99, buy for 16; Netflix would still be dealing with.
Barack Obama, on behalf of the entire White House has welcomed the decision of Sony as a victory over terrorism, but there are those who suspect that all this brawl was just the clever strategy of a communications expert.
In fact, a kind of cyber war seems really going on, because in North Korea the Internet has suffered a break of nine hours and continues to operate intermittently; statements, claims and silences frantically follow each other.
“Non abbiamo mai rinunciato all’uscita di ‘The Interview’ e siamo contenti che il film sarà in alcune sale (…) allo stesso tempo continuiamo i nostri sforzi per assicurarci piú piattaforme e piú sale, in modo che il film raggiunga la piú grande audience possibile”.
