Birdman

“E vola sulle accuse della gente / a tutti i suoi retaggi indifferente…”*

an Italian song

‘Birdman’, in my humble opinion, deserves two Oscars at least, for the Best Cinematography and Original Screenplay. Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki is said he has been called by the director Iñárritu while he was finishing ‘Gravity’, with the specific request for an entire movie could appear as a continuous shot (⇐Reuters).
He did it. Visionary and original, ‘Birdman’ shows such an intelligent use of the sequence shot that it is possible to wonder what reason for other filmmakers do not do the same. And please note it is not here to debate about other sequence shots throughout the history of cinema.
Birdman, denasatus, laughs. And flies…

Birdman, denasatus, ride. E vola…

*Translation:”he flies over people’s accusations/ indifferent to any preconception” (tbh “retaggio” rather means ‘inheritance’)
