Walt Disney is in the paradise of filmmakers since long years now but the good Tom Hanks will take his features for a rare nobility of intent: to make Mary Poppins revive and to tell its realization. ‘Saving Mr. Banks‘ will take us by the hand and tell us as one of the most important films of everyone imagination have come to light. long years and not a few were the misunderstandings and quarrels between Disney and Pamela Lyndon Travers (born Helen Lyndon Goff), the Australian author of the book. The woman quickly chose the protagonist, Julie Andrews, after hearing her only once on the phone but, on other matters, she went along with Walt very little, as with Sherman brothers (those ones who composed the successful Chim Chim Cher-ee ). The film, directed by John Lee Hancock, will be released in U.S. theaters on December 13th, in Italy the following February. The title comes from George Banks, who was the natural father of Helen Lyndon Goff and lived just on 17, Cherry Trees Street. Walt Disney è nel paradiso dei cineasti ormai da lunghi anni ma il buon Tom Hanks prenderà le sue fattezze per un intento di rara nobiltà: far rivivere Mary Poppins e raccontarne la realizzazione. ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ ci prenderà per mano e ci racconterà come uno dei film piú importanti dell’immaginario collettivo sia venuto a luce. Non fu una gestazione facile, si racconta; ci vollero quattordici lunghi anni e non poche furono le incomprensioni e le liti tra Disney e Pamela Lyndon Travers (pseudonimo di Helen Lyndon Goff), autrice australiana del libro. La donna scelse la protagonista, Julie Andrews al volo, dopo averla ascoltata una sola volta al telefono ma, su altri argomenti, s’incontrò ben poco sia con Walt che con i fratelli Sherman (che furono i compositori del fortunatissimo Cam caminí). Il film, diretto da John Lee Hancock, sarà nelle sale americane il 13 dicembre, in Italia il febbraio successivo; il titolo deriva da George Banks, che era il padre naturale di Helen Lyndon Goff e abitava proprio in via dei Ciliegi 17.
