A notre humble avis,
We saw ‘Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom’ last Friday, for our anniversary, obviously in an Italian theatre, and we want to talk about it. ‘Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom’, directed by Guillaume Canet, written by him under the inspiration of the comic stories of René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, has been starred by Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche, Vincent Cassel, Jonathan Cohen, Marion Cotillard, Julie Chen, Leanna Chea, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Highly awaited, it was presented as the film that was to relaunch French cinematography, indeed a little lackluster since the days of the Nouvelle Vague, of Godard, of Leos Carax, Olivier Assayas, Patrice Leconte, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Matthieu Kassovitz, François Ozon, Xavier Giannoli, Michel Gondry, Bertand Tavernier.
In our humble opinion,

#StopExecutionsinIran: Hollywood against tyranny

Update on January, 9: Iranian director Jafar Panahi, imprisoned last July while protesting against the regime, will be the honorary president of the international jury of Bif&st 2023, which will take place in Bari (Italy) since 24 March to 1 April. “A precise choice by the director of Bif&st, Felice Laudadio – a note reads – in solidarity with the great director who with his masterpieces won countless awards at the Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, San Sebastian, Tokyo festivals, of which calls for his immediate release from prison, and in support of the Iranian people’s struggle against the vicious regime of the ayatollahs.” (⇐Ansa.it)

“Cate Blanchett, Jason Momoa, Samuel L. Jackson, Jada Pinkett Smith and Bryan Cranston are among more than 50 entertainment industry members publicly supporting calls to end Iran’s execution of protestors, jailed during the country’s 100 days of demonstrations around women’s rights. In a video message conceived, organized and produced by Iranian-American screenwriter Nicole Najafi, director, writer and producer Ana Lily Amirpour, and actress-writer Mozhan Marnò, the collection of entertainers are captured through photos holding signs featuring the hashtag #StopExecutionsinIran. “We stand with the people of Iran in their fight for freedom,” the video reads. “Thousands of protesters have been arrested. Some have already been executed. Many more are in danger. But the world is watching.”
The effort, which encourages viewers to make their own hashtag signs and post photos to their social media, took 10 days to complete, includes 52 Hollywood names and features La Femme’s, “Tu t’en lasses,” the use of which was approved by the band the same day the trio DMed them. Work on the over one-minute video began shortly after the first protestor executions, and sprung, in part, from conversations between Najafi and a Ukrainian organizer and friend coordinating for #ArmUkraineNow. The piece includes a mix of Hollywood talent newly invested in raising awareness and those who have been doing ongoing work around the women-led Iranian protests.
(…) In response, Iranians took to the streets where they have been met with nationwide internet blackouts, social media restrictions, teargassing, water canons, the use of live ammunition and executions, beginning with Mohsen Shekari’s, which the government alleged was tied to a protest-related crime. (As of late December, Human Rights Iran reported around 500 deaths associated with the demonstrations, with thousands more arrested and 100 protestors at risk of execution — sentences and arrests that are ongoing.)

season greetings, Love and Thunder, Sweet child of mine…

Director Taika Waititi told the journalists that showing Chris Hemworth’s body in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ was a present to the audience. (For an antefact in comics, please find the picture at the end of the post…)

Why not, then, another season present based on Thor? On our little way, of course…

SEASON GREETINGS WITH THOR 😉

Based on/ on the same tune of ‘sweet Child of mine’*, by Guns N’Roses (Duff Rose Mckagan / Izzy Stradlin / Saul Hudson Hudson / Steven Adler / W. Axl Rose Rose), also used in the film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

How long have we been waiting for
this nice season – who don’t know? –
where everything is as fresh as the bright blue sky?
It is the time in which mercy and grace
go together, and the space
seems as if the stars could make your dreams come true…

Whoa, oh, oh
SWEET TIME ‘N THE YEAR!
Whoa, oh, oh, oh
SWEET TIME ‘N THE YEAR…

Should you be like Chris Hemsworth
or, who knows, even more,
or even nothing that compares to him, take your day as fool!

del Toro’s Pinocchio, an invitation to View

Few times in my life it happened to me to see such an esoterically courageous animation film
like Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pinocchio’.
Carlo Collodi’s Bildungsroman, a holy monster of world literature,
was reborn in a skillful declination
that dissolved the original ingredients (Freedom, Distrust of power, Feelings)
and recombined them with originality and style.
I strongly recommend it for be seeing above all by adults,
as a new vision of the Life.

100 years of Disney: celebrations begun

The year of celebrations and initiatives that will lead us to the 100th anniversary of Disney has officially begun; although International Animation Day has just passed, we take it as inspiration to deal with that.
It was on October 16, 1923 when Walt Disney and his brother Roy presented for the first time what would become perhaps the most interesting reality in the world of entertainment, especially in terms of fantasy and inspiration. It all started with a Mouse and it was Mickey Mouse himself who kicked off the celebrations, as part of the London ‘Disney100 Debut’ event; Mickey Mouse apart, the preview of Disney 100 Years Of Wonder was hosted by TV presenter Emma Willis with famous faces such as Rachel Stevens, Andrea McLean and Kimberly Wyatt among the attendees.

Exhibitions, Hollywood Sound Orchestra concerts, dedicated merchandising, rich prizes and cotillions are planned throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Disney100: The Exhibition will be particularly suggestive; to be honest we do know something about since last October, from the official website d23.com: (altro…)

the waiting Starman…

Frantic and multifaceted to the same extent that David Bowie actually was, ‘Moonage Daydream’ caught my attention last Tuesday night. Written, directed, and produced by Brett Morgen, ‘Moonage Daydream’ is a documentary, and more than a documentary. The White Duke is presented to you as an icon, as a star, as a versatile artist, hungry for every possible source of inspiration, and able to move from Music to Painting, from Cinema to Theatre and Dance.
Even apart from the David Bowie’s appropriate fresco, enriched by a soundtrack made up of both famous and unpublished songs, ‘Moonage Daydream’ also is an adventure into every possible element of pop culture, in a kaleidoscopic and philological rock experience.
There is a Starman waiting in the sky, no doubt. And

Hercules live action & Hercules vs Thor: just a speculation

While we were carrying on our speculations, Disney and Marvel revealed at San Diego Comic-Con the films related to the phases 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 5 (2023-2024): ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’; ‘Secret Invasion’ (Disney+); ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’; ‘Echo’ (Disney+); ‘Loki season 2’ (Disney+); ‘The Marvels’; ‘Blade’; ‘Ironheart’ (Disney+); ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’(Disney+); ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ (Disney+); ‘Captain America: New World Order’; ‘Thunderbolts’; Phase 6 (2024-2025): ‘Fantastic Four’ (a reboot); ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
Do you all remember the old post in which I expressed the perplexity that too many Hercules could come up at the same time in our imaginary world and in cinemas? The reflection did not end there, it continued and hooked on the awareness that Marvel is part of the Disney empire, for some years now.
A hypothesis I had come up with could be this: (altro…)
